From little things, big things grow...the H&H journey

It all started with a shirt.

Back in 2009, what feels like a lifetime ago now, I couldn’t buy a shirt that fitted. And when I say fitted, I mean, covered enough, tucked enough, looked sharp, and felt great too.

So, I problem-solved, and I made one.

I ended up making so many, that the little laundry rack in the corner of my husband’s Charlton Produce store wasn’t big enough for long, and my shirt side-hustle expanded to floor space. After six years and countless fabric swatches, button cards, ribbon samples and shirts crafted, Hitchley & Harrow, took over the entire shop space in the little tin shed on the Warrego Highway.

Quality has always been paramount for the brand. No compromises. Second to that, experience. So, we went beyond the tin shed, purchasing a mobile truck showroom – one of the first of its kind at the time – transforming it into a space that was a little bit of luxe for women attending events and shows. It smelt good, was temperature controlled and made finding their fit effortless.

Taking product to the people across Eastern Australia, and even to the United States of America, propelled the label that was quickly becoming sought-after for its superior-fitting, head-turning statement shirts. So, a semi-trailer joined the transport team to accommodate the growing event demand and stock levels.

And now, with no space left to grow, I say goodbye to the Charlton chapter of Hitchley & Harrow, to excitingly bring you a space that extends beyond fashion into lifestyle, with a curated line-up of homewares, giftware, accessories and seasonal pieces to complement the label’s signature flair.

It’s been a wild ride. There’s been blown tyres, sleepless nights, life lessons, but the good times, the amazing women, and the loyal customers, have kept me going.

Hitchley & Harrow is now so much more than just a shirt, the label offers denim, linen and polos. And, our new Taylor Street shopfront will be a space that celebrates living beautifully, from wardrobe to tablescape. And everything in between.
